Farm-to-School Programs

Apologies for the temporary silence due to technological issues, but now that seems to be resolved I thought I’d add a quick link to an example of an initiative that I believe to be growing (ha!) momentum all over the world in primary and secondary education. In this article the purpose of farming in schools is framed around the childhood obesity epidemic that is afflicting the Americas and much of Europe these days, but this is by no means the only reason to encourage the growing of food at your local school. From behavioural issues to academic achievement, growing your own food has never been such a hot topic in education, and the potential ramifications of empowering students in this way is huge.
